Art gallery "Stena"

Art Gallery "Stena" was opened in July 2010 in the former workshops of artists. It is the first private art gallery of high level in Vitebsk. The choice of the name was not accidental: "The wall is both a protection and a barrier, the plane on which the paintings hang, and the famous album Pink Floyd" - shares the philosophical concept of the gallery founder Nikolai Dundin. And creating one's own gallery was also a long-cherished dream of the first creative association in the post-Soviet area, "Kvadrat", the spiritual successors of UNOVIS. Almost thirty years ago, the "Kvadrat people" dreamed of standing side by side, back to back, like a stone wall of their thoughts, ideas, and creations. It is symbolic that the gallery is located in a historic place in the city, near the building at 5 Pravda Street, which in the early twentieth century housed the workshops of the Unovis Association. The house where the art gallery-salon is located is also notable. It is an architectural monument - in the XIX century it was the barracks of the Lenkoran Regiment. The people working in the gallery have managed to retain their creative energy and creative aura. Up to now halls of the gallery are the place where Vitebsk artists come at ease. It is an informal cultural center of the city, which unites artists, art critics, collectors and connoisseurs of art.

The interiors of the five exhibition halls are decorated according to the sketches of the Vitebsk artist, member of the Belarusian Union of Artists and founder of the gallery Nikolai Dundin. From the sign at the entrance to the original wrought iron fixtures are all works of art. You can spend hours in the gallery, satiated and filled with the beauty of the things collected there. Moreover, the gallery is not just a retail object, but during the four years of its existence, The Wall has developed and is developing as an educational project. N. Dundin sees his important task as supporting and promoting artists of Vitebsk. Over the years, the gallery has repeatedly held solo exhibitions and sales of works by Vitebsk artists, and has provided its halls for creative evenings, presentations of books, music albums and cultural and educational projects.

Gallery "Stena" is not only engaged in the exhibition and sale of paintings and drawings. It has an art salon, where viewers can buy the work they like: ceramic and bronze figurines, unique caskets and jewelry, handmade dolls and trendy today hand-made, authors' decorative objects and original lamps. The exposition of the gallery's five halls is replenished every day.
