Museum of the History of Private Collections

The Museum of the History of Private Collections is located in the historical center of Vitebsk, in the building of the former city power station, which was built in 1897-1898 to ensure the operation of the Vitebsk streetcar.

The museum is based on the private collections of the largest collectors of Vitebsk of the XIX-XX centuries. Total exhibits about 1700 originals: weapons and porcelain, sculpture and noble embroidery, awards and coins of the world, smoking pipes and archaeological finds, and much more.

Galkevich's collection consists of over seven thousand items and was given to the museum as a gift from the collector's widow A. P. Galkevich. The collection includes coins of different periods and countries, commemorative and anniversary medals, government awards, archaeological and household items, sculptures, badges, etc.

In addition to the collection of Galkevich the museum has a collection of 1.5 thousand items (postcards) from M. I. Kolkov from Vitebsk. In addition, the museum holds small exhibitions from private collections of citizens and funds of local history museum.
