Memorial Complex «Three Bayonets»

This complex is the most important memorial structure in the city. It was created in 1974 on Victory Square. It includes the memorial square, 2 swimming pools, 10 pylons, the main monument. The Memorial Square is located below the level of Victory Square (14 steps lead to it) and has the form of an elongated rectangle. On the sides of the square there are 5 pylons with the dates of each year of the Great Patriotic War. Two pools 85 meters long and 10 meters wide with four bubbling jets in each lead to the main monument.

Along the central axis of the memorial, on the bank of the Western Dvina rises the main monument - three 56-meter trapezoidal pylons - obelisks, narrowed at the top. At the height of five meters the pylons are united by a three-sided monolithic frieze, on the sides of which there are reliefs: "Warriors", "Partisans" and "Members of the Underground". From the inside the pylons of the obelisk are joined by a ring with the inscription "Glory to the Heroes". Under it, on a podium in the shape of a star, the eternal flame is lit. To the river from the monument lead three stairs.

In the evening the complex is illuminated by decorative lighting.
