Frunze Culture and Rest Park

Frunze Park of Culture and Recreation is located in the city center, in the Oktyabrsky district, on the banks of the river Vitsba and the brook Danube. The area is 15 hectares.

The park is dominated by landscape layout, in the central part - regular. Planted about 700 trees and shrubs of different species, among them: birch, willow, poplar, white acacia, maple pyramidal and holly, ash.

The Vitebsk Concert Hall "Vitebsk" is situated in the center of the park, on Kstovo Hill, the pedestrian bridge of the 1000th anniversary of Vitebsk leads to which from Lenin Street across the river Vitsba. There are also several small bridges across the Vitsba and the Danube. There is a fountain on the right side of the park. During the Soviet years there were rides in the park.

The park was laid in the middle of XIX century as a bishop's garden (the garden at the house of bishop). It became widely accessible after the October Revolution. In 1926 it was renamed to Frunze park of culture and leisure, in honor of mentioned revolutionary and Soviet statesman. From the pre-revolutionary years there was a private building, but then it was removed and formed a full park with a summer theater.
